I was only half asleep this time.
I made another batch of cheddar today. This time it went much better. I think talking about it on here helped me firm up things in my mind. From start to finish it took 4 and 1/2 hours. I was not working on it that whole time! I just had to babysit it rather closely and there was some hands-on work, of course. This is very encouraging. I'm getting the system down, know what equipment will work best for me and gaining confidence. It helps to have an "audience." I wasn't going to do it today, because I was worn out from a fit of Spring Cleaning yesterday. But then I looked and saw the extra milk looking back at me, so plunged in anyway. A friend wants a demonstration. Now I feel more confident about showing her. Maybe before too awfully long, I will be able to do it "In My Sleep."
Pretty soon you'll be selling it for $15.00 a pound and making a fortune!
ReplyDeleteIwish I lived closer, I would come for the demonstration too. Keep it up girl.
ReplyDeleteYes, until I get caught and go to jail! :-0
ReplyDeleteWow, I have dreamed of making my own hard cheeses. Totally impressed. When you have it down, please post pics and details. I don't know how I would get raw milk, but I would love to try this!
ReplyDeleteI will! And you would not have to have raw milk if you wanted to give it a try. A lot of people make cheese with pasteurized milk.
