A Good Harvest Day!

Things are looking up here with the garden.  We went out this morning and picked everything that needed picking.

Yellow Crookneck Squash

Tomatoes!  Not quite ripe, but that's how it is this year

Peppers, green and purple-podded pole beans

Bi-color sweet corn

Then I took a walk in the woods and came back with some lovely oyster mushrooms!  (There definitely ARE some advantages to having too much rain.  :)

  1. What a great harvest! What do you do with all the yellow squash? Do you use it the same as zucchini? That is what I do, but they are both so productive we get way too many. I do take them to the take it or leave it table at church but lots of others bring it in too.

    1. I use them just like zucchini too! My zucchinis all died early on. I never can seem to keep them alive here. The squash bugs come in droves, but it has not been as hard on the yellow squash. I use the little yellow squash for breakfast a lot. I'll stir-fry some vegetables (whatever I can find growing) and have Jasmine rice and scrambled eggs. Oh, my... I love this time of year! And I do exactly the same - I take my extras to Church and people can help themselves. :)
