Thank you Rhonda. First I wrote that this was my first new home ever, and then I remembered that once before we lived in a brand new mobile home. It was part of a job my husband had. Very nice to have new. :)
Just found your sight through Rhonda. Congratulations on the home, my husband and I are looking at a doublewide. Our property taxes in Northern Illinois are $7000 a year for a 60 yr old ranch home, crazy! I'll be following you, can't wait to see what it looks like, good luck to you!! Patricia
Thank you, Patti. $7000 a year? That's insane! Here in Indiana, property tax is capped at 1% of assessed value for regular homes, 2% for businesses, and 3% for farmland. Then, since we are both at least 65, we get a significant discount because of that and also have a "homestead credit" that takes maybe 40% off the assessed value. Maybe you should move down here!
