One of our daughters came to visit for a week. She and I really enjoy gardening and nature and herbal remedies and such. We decided to make a pillow from cattail fluff. If you go here , just in case you don't know what cattails are, you can read about them and see a picture of what I mean by the "fluff." We took some empty bags and walked along a railroad track near here and collected plenty of fluff.
Here she is getting ready to do it!
Here is a closer look at the fluff ~
It helps a lot to have a pug to assist in this job ~ (note the fluff on her face. :)
She used an old pillow case as the case for her project. Here she is separating the fluff and stuffing the pillowcase, which is placed inside a 5-gallon bucket ~
Now the pillowcase is full. She then just sewed a couple of seams across the open end, with larger stitches so they will be easy to take out and make a new one next year.
Here is the nice big pillow!
It would be best, when you use this pillow to put it inside TWO other pillow cases, as the fibers are fine and can sort of stick through the fabric. We learned how to do this from this book.
