Two years ago my daughter came and helped me make a hugelkultur in the vegetable garden. You can read about that here:
This morning I went out to check on some radishes that I had planted in the hugelkultur in March and neglected to pull up. Here is what I found!
Surprisingly, they are good flavored and not stringy. In fact, they are very good! So, I cut them up and have started a ferment. :)
Then I cleaned and blanched the greens and ended up with 4 nice little packages for the freezer.
What is the variety of radish and how do you eat he greens?
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to the radish variety:

The greens, well, I take out the stiff middle rib (just like you would with collards or kale) and then blanch the leaves for 1 minute in boiling water and freeze them in little batches. I use them in stir-fries and soup! :)
I came across your blog regarding making a Wonderbag. I also want to stuff mine with wool hence l write to ask 'did you coincidently have enough wool stuffing to hand or did you make a calculation as to how much you'd need?'
ReplyDeleteI am having to order the stuffung online and don't know if it's voulme or weight l need to work out!!
I have asked this question here as l could not see another means of contacting you, listed in your blog.
Thanks very much.
I already had the wool. I just now weighed it and the whole bag weighs roughly 3 pounds. I didn't use nice spinning wool. I did wash it before using it, of course. If you know someone who has sheep, you could probably buy some poor quality wool much less expensively than online. Good luck! People also use polystyrene beads to fill these.
