Here I am with about 2/3 of our sweet potatoes for this year. My husband and I dug them up today. It always needs to be done before a frost and I don't want to wait until the last minute. The other 1/3 is purple sweet potatoes. I am so grateful for all of this good food! We brought in about 118 pounds.
a magnificent yield!!!!! I do love sweet potatoes, especially baked. I should look out for organic sweet potatoes at the supermarket which I will then sprout in a container on the windowsill ready to plant out in the garden.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, that is the way to do it. I did that this year and sometimes I've not had enough plants, but was able to buy them at a local greenhouse. Depending on where you live, you can also grow them outside in a box of sandy soil, easily. We live in Southern Indiana, and if I want to do that, I plant them the 1st of May and then transplant the "slips" at the end of May.
